INTRO:

Robot 2.0 is one of the best 2018 Indian science fiction action film written and directed by S. Shankar. Produced by Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions, the film is a sequel to Enthiran (2010),

Featuring Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and K. Ganesh appear in supporting roles. The film follows the conflict between Chitti, the once dismantled andro-humanoid robot, and Pakshi Rajan, an ornithologist who seeks vengeance on smartphone users to prevent avian population decline. The soundtrack is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics written by Madhan Karky and Na. Muthukumar.

Produced on an estimated budget of ₹543 crore (US$76 million), 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film to date. Production began in 2015, with principal photography conducted at AVM Studios later that year. The first schedule was filmed at EVP World. Scenes were primarily shot in India, particularly in Chennai's Madras Boat Club and Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Filming was completed by August 2017. The film is the first in Indian cinema to be natively shot in 3D, which was done by cinematographer Nirav Shah. Legacy Effects made their return to construct prosthetic makeup and animatronics, with visual effects supervised by V. Srinivas Mohan. Editing was handled by Anthony and production design was conducted by T. Muthuraj.

2.0 was released worldwide in both 3D and conventional format on 29 November 2018. It received generally positive reviews upon release. Critics particularly praised the film's visual effects, performances of Rajinikanth and Kumar, and social message; the pace and screenplay received criticism. The film earned ₹117.34 crore (US$16 million) worldwide on its first day.

    Story:

       The story line of Robot 2.0 movie goes like, A man, surrounded by birds, hangs himself to death at a cell site. Elsewhere, the scientist Vaseegaran introduces Nila, his new andro-humanoid robot, to a group of students. One of the students falls off his bike while using his mobile, and is astonished to see his mobile phone flying around him in a similar manner to birds. Soon, mobiles all over Tamil Nadu begin to exhibit similar characteristics, leaving the state in chaos. At an emergency meeting initiated by the government, Vaseegaran states that it is beyond conventional science to fight such a fifth force, and proposes reinstating Chitti, which was dismantled in 2010. However, Dhinendra Bohra, who lost his father Dr. Bohra in the midst of Chitti's rage, opposes, and the proposal is vetoed. Instead, the council decides to seek help from the military.

       On the other hand, the swarm of mobile phones kill a cell phone wholesaler, a transmission tower owner and a telecom minister. Vaseegaran retrieves Chitti's parts from the museum again with the help of Nila, who begins to fall for Chitti. While Vaseegaran is busy preparing Chitti, he receives permission from the Home Minister that he rebuild Chitti again, accepting responsibility for any mishap he may cause during the feud. Chitti tracks the cell phones, which have taken the form of a giant crow, and while the both face off, Chitti's battery gets depleted. He starts searching for a power source amongst the three huge signal transmitters. To Vaseegaran's surprise, the bird is unable to penetrate through the field of the transmitters and gets hurt, thus saving Chitti from further damage.

        At the lab Chitti tell Vaseegaran that the bird is surrounded by negative energy that been transmitted through antenna. 

        Chitti learns from Rajan his backstory; he used to be an ornithology professor and had a huge liking for birds since the day he was born. He owned a small house in an open field where birds would come and live with him. Rajan nurtured and cared for them. All goes well for him until the growth of the smartphone industry and the setting up of cellphone towers near his home, which were gradually killing the birds due to radiation. Rajan then goes to the cell phone wholesaler, transmission tower owner and the Telecom Minister to stop their activities as birds were dying but to no avail. He also organizes conferences and protests against cellphones for the favour of birds, but no one supports him. Distraught on seeing all his birds die, Rajan climbs the cell phone tower and hangs himself to death. His soul, along with the dead birds, combine together to form an evil aura that manipulates mobile phones into any form by electromagnetic radiation.

        Chitti, after hearing his story, empathizes with him but demands that he stop killing people, to which Rajan declines and retakes the bird's form. Chitti reactivates the mini transmitters and neutralizes Rajan and stores his energy in a containment circuit. This feat of Chitti helps Vaseegaran's cause and the Home Minister legalizes Chitti. He also orders that android robots like Chitti be made for the Indian Army. Bohra sneaks into AIRD and reactivates Rajan's energy from the containment circuit. Rajan takes over Vaseegaran's body. He roams the streets at night telling people to stop using cell phone and hurting people when they refuse to do so. Chitti hesitates to kill Rajan as it will mean the death of Vaseegaran as well. Taking advantage of this, Rajan disassembles Chitti. Nila takes him back to the lab and rebuilds Chitti in a better body, installing Dr. Bohra's red chip. Chitti becomes his rogue version, Chitti 2.0, but this time against Rajan, as his actions are constrained by Nila to harm none but Rajan. Chitti then starts making many more versions of him including microbots that transform into a mobile phone. Chitti also begins to flirt with Nila.

        Rajan takes over a stadium full of people, killing Bohra with radiation but is confronted by Chitti who isn't bothered by Rajan possessing Vaseegaran. Both make giant versions of themselves and fight each other but Chitti's battery drains and falls to the ground. While he reaches the charging station, he is knocked down by Rajan, who has taken a new form, when the microbots, each known as Kutti, arrived mounted on white pigeons and grab the attract of Rajan. Chitti recharges and shoots at Rajan but the bullets are blocked by Nila. However one strikes Rajan in the shoulder, separating his aura and Vaseegaran. Nila saves Vaseegaran and hospitalises him, while the microbots fly with Rajan's aura behind them and they lead him to the antennae where his aura is eliminated for good, destroying the towers in the process.

       Later, Vaseegaran is in the hospital with the Home Minister by his side, saying that what Rajan did by killing people was wrong, but his motive to protect birds was well-meaning, and everyone should take chances to save birds by limiting the use of phones, and feeding them whenever they get a chance. Chitti, with his red chip now removed, begins a relationship with Nila, to which Vaseegaran agrees.

   Box Office Collection:

        Movie production says ”the business should gather momentum on Day 3 (Saturday) and Day 4 (Sunday)" he added. The Hindi version of 2.0 alone collected Rs. 20.25 crore on the opening day and it made Rs. 18 crore on Friday. The film's total box office collection for now is Rs. 38.25 crore. Robot  2.0 is made on a budget of over Rs. 500 crore and the filmmakers have recovered Rs. 370 crore through the sale of the film's satellite and digital rights.

       The movie has stretched awesome VFX’s of all time, This is also one of the main reasons for the viewer's attention towards film. This movie is directly hitting Hollywood.
